As
manager of a Formula 3000 team John Village wanted to create a
safe and exciting car for his six-year-old son.
The
prototype was built in 1994 and was named the Sonic Seven by an
ecstatic Sam, who now test-
drives
all his father's 'toy' cars.
Based on the classic Lotus Seven, the Sonic has a Honda GX 160cc
petrol engine and reaches a maximum of 25mph. Despite being built
for his son, the Sonic is equally popular with girls. 'They tend
to be better drivers, being more cautious.' He assures worried
parents that attention has been paid to safety throughout.
What
began as a hobby is now a busy business run out of the team's
racing workshop. Nigel Mansell is among the international clientele.
